folking out at Summer Darkness!
A few weeks ago we were at the wonderful Summer Darkness festival and we’ve got a lot of pictures and videos to show for it! We had a whale of a time there, and not in the last place because of all the happy and enthusiastic dancing people, but also due to the fact that we got to see our dear friends from Faerydae and The Dutch Lemmings again. Here’s a video of us performing Kelpie, shot by André Broens. If you want to see more of his fabulous videos of us and aforementioned bands, click here.

Join us as we go dark at Summer Darkness 2012! We’ll be playing sunday the 28th of juli (time not yet known but watch this space..) at the Dom Square in Utrecht. See you there…
Ever been curious about where our name comes from? Why we dress the way we do? What our favorite bands are? head on over to Rockportaal.nl to read an interview with us!
..Oh yeah, and we’ll be there too, making music ‘n stuff. And there’s Guinness. Don’t miss this special gig on the 24th of february situated in Haarlem, in the living room of our dear friends Astrid and Ben, who will make sure there’s plenty of Guinness. It’ll be a comfy cosy evening with two sets of rollicking, roaring tunes and sentimental gloomy ballads, which you can enjoy whilst slurping your glass of Guinness. We’ll take you on a trip from the lochs of Scotland to the Balkan and back so be sure not to miss this very special and intimate unamplified gig. Oh and did I mention there’ll be Guinness? To make a reservation you can drop Astrid a line at: strdvndnbrg[at]gmail.com
..oops, was that a spoiler? Well don’t let it stop you from watching this VERY cool videoclip for dutch rapper Dennis T which features none other than three of the four Finvarras as gipsy street musicians. You might say it’s a glimpse into our old life;) See if you can spot us! Also it’s worth knowing that the styling team behind this is Roos and Femke of Hats ‘n Dreads, the same lovely ladies who styled and arranged the Finvarra bandshoot and it was directed by Jouke Koning.
Sooo, you’re sitting there, behind your computer, wondering what to do with your time after all the holiday cheer has died down a little (thank god). Fear not! We have the solution(quite literally actually..read on)! Come to the Solution(see?!) in Hillegom on the 14th of januari and attend WinterFolkFest! There’ll be a diversity of bands, playing anything from Scottish and Irish folk to pagan, from bluegrass to folkmetal, and the single best thing about it: It’s entirely and completely free! So being broke(and let’s face it, who isn’t, after the holidays?) need not stand in the way of a fun and folk filled day. Added bonus: World of Stone, Rhovanion and ourselves will have our gigs recorded into live cd’s, so this is your chance to be immortalised in sonic form on a little shiny silver disc. Hope to see you there!

Well we’re back home again, and we are sad the Archeon midwinterfair was over so soon…we loved performing there in the Roman Inn (and we were so very charmed by the lovely Roman-style backstage area!) and meeting up with old friends and making a lot of new ones! We’re also sad this was the last gig in 2011 and we have to wait till january for our next one, but more about that later. For now we’ll enjoy basking in the afterglow of a great weekend a little longer..
Tomorrow we’ll be hitting the Archeon Midwinterfair. We’ll be performing at the main stage around noonish (ok, 12.15 to be precise. I just love saying ‘noonish’) along with Rapalje and Kelten zonder Grenzen so we’ll be in the finest of company! We can’t wait to hit the stage (and the market with all those fine shopping opportunities. Patrick? Where’s that wallet?) and later the mulled wine (or hot mead depending on who you ask). Perhaps the weather Gods will bless the weekend with some snow to add some extra magic? One can only hope..
See you there!
